Tonight sees all of the PDC GK's participate in the following topic,

Defending the area - 1v1, 2v1, high and low balls played into the area situations

All Goalkeepers will be working on the following Learning Objectives,

Priority 1) Defend the goal, Priority 2) Defend the space between the goalkeeper and the defenders
Is there pressure on the ball
Goalkeepers stance in anticipation of the through ball
Assessment of the flight of the ball - advance or defend the goal
When advancing - be positive - safety first - clear the lines
Defending the goal - put the onus onto the attacker, forward movements when the ball is out of the attackers feet, delay and stay BIG, force the attacker wide if possible
Technique of smothering/diving at the feet - Lead with the hands, bodyweight going forward, position of your head (behind the hands), create a big barrier
